BSc(Hons), CBiol, MIBiol, BVetMed MRCVS Principal of Elands Veterinary Clinic, Philip has been practising endoscopy and endosurgery since 1995, ultrasonography since 2000 and laser surgery since 2001 and continues to expand his repertoire. An enthusiastic advocate of minimally invasive techniques, Philip lectures extensively all over the UK teaching the principles and practice of endoscopy to other veterinary surgeons and is currently special lecturer in veterinary Endoscopy at the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science. Philip is also chairman of the Kent branch of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association.
DVM, MRCVS Metropolitan Veterinary Consultants, Hanover, New Hampshire, USA, email David David is a well known endoscopist, endosurgeon, consultant and lecturer across the US and UK. Having trained initially with human endosurgeons, David has been formative in introducing endoscopy and laser surgery into veterinary medicine in the USA and now the UK. David runs his own referral practice in the States and travels to Elands every 2-3 months to see cases here.
BSc Agric, BVSc (Hons), MRCVS Cedric graduated from Onderstepoort in 1992 since when he has pursued his interest in Veterinary dentistry, working with Celia Gorrel in the UK and spending time in the USA and Europe to hone his skills. Cedric offers a full range of dental treatments and oral surgery in dogs, cats, rabbits and small mammals, including restorative work, endodontics and oral surgery.
BVSc MRCVS Lisa qualified in South Africa in 1997, since when she been working in the UK. Having attended four years in the European School of Advanced Veterinary Studies, she is currently working towards her Diploma in Veterinary Dentistry. Lisa has been working with Cedric at Elands since August 2003, seeing first opinion and referral cases - offering a full range of dental treatments and oral surgery in dogs, cats, rabbits and small mammals, including restorative work.
NAAT, VN Caron qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 1989 and has a wealth of experience covering a wide range of species from equine, farm, exotic and companion animals. Following a course in animal behaviour therapy with Roger Mugford in 1989 she completed her diploma in advanced nursing in 1991 and physiotherapy in 1992. Since then she has completed courses in Osteopathy for animals "Helsinki" in 197, Tellington Touch for small animals in 1997. She has produced and presented a practical session at the BVNA congress on "massage in practice" and has a wide experience of pulsed electro-magnetic therapy, simulated laser and McTimoney-Carley chiropractic techniques. Physiotherapy is an under used discipline in veterinary medicine, and Caron has greatly enhanced the recovery of numerous patients following surgery, as well as relieving many of the symptoms of arthritis and musculo-skeletal injury, without the need to resort to long term drug therapy. ServicesNon invasive imaging techniques such as radiography and ultrasonography are routinely employed by us for diagnosis and to help plan procedures accurately. We have excellent laboratory and radiographic facilities and full colour doppler ultrasound at our disposal. Rigid and flexible endoscopy, enables the surgeon to access and operate on parts of the body that other technologies cannot reach - and in glorious, magnified technicolour. Endoscopy is the modality of choice for nasal problems, bladder dysfunction, gastro-intestinal investigation and joint assessment. Laparoscopy and thoracoscopy enable the surgeon to thoroughly assess anatomy and pathology with better visualisation and less trauma than conventional surgery. The use of the diode laser through the endoscope instrument channel greatly enhances the range of surgical procedures that can be performed, including tissue ablation, tumour debulking and/or removal and haemostasis. The laser can also be used for conventional surgical treatments such as removal of feline eosinophilic granulomas and other oral and skin lesions, resulting in reduced post-operative pain and swelling
