Home Visits

Here at Elands Veterinary Clinic we understand that, rather than travel to the surgery, some clients prefer to book a home visit. All home visits need to be pre booked (often two to three days in advance) and there is an additional charge for this service which may vary depending on the journey distance.

For clients wanting to book a home visit on the same day as they phone in, it is advisable to phone the practice early in the morning to give staff the opportunity to plan the work load. We do not guarantee a same day service but, if we are able to, we will always do our best to accommodate any such requests. The more notice we are given then the more likely we will be able to assist you. As veterinary surgeons have to attend to patients at the surgery and have to plan the day’s schedule, we cannot offer an emergency home visit service.

Many clients prefer to have their pets put to sleep at home and we can arrange this for you. However, should events take an unexpected turn for the worse, and your pet needs attending to sooner rather than later, it may it may be quicker and therefore kinder for you to bring your pet in to us.

There are occasions that owners request a home visit when their pet is very poorly but it is actually in the pet’s best interest that he or she is brought into the surgery where we have all the appropriate facilities to provide the necessary care and treatment. We aim to provide you with the highest level of service so if in such instances we recommend that you come into the surgery, it is because your pet’s welfare is our priority. Some pets are more difficult to handle at home and it and it may be safer for everyone involved and less stressful for the pet if they are seen at the surgery.

Home visits tend to be carried out after morning consultations but the timing will depend on staff availability. Please feel free to contact us to discuss this service or to book a home visit.
