Flexible endoscopy

Flexible endoscopy of the respiratory and alimentary tracts is the modality of choice for retrieval of foreign bodies and collection of samples and biopsy specimens. It allows good visualisation of pathology and real time examination of motility.

Flexible alimentary endoscopy

Investigation of vomiting or diarrhoea, weight loss, melaena or foreign body retrieval are all facilitated by direct endoscopic visualisation. Biopsies and cultures can be taken without the need for major surgical intervention. Small polyps can be removed with the diode laser system.

Tracheobronchoscopy

Persistent coughing, dyspnoea, or haemoptesis are all indications for bronchoscopy. This also incorporates examination of the pharynx, larynx and trachea, and may incorporate biopsy collection, samples for culture, brush cytology or broncho-alveolar lavage.
