Elands Veterinary Clinic

Worried dogWorried about spaying your pet?

Why not give her the benefit of a "key-hole" spay?

Research has shown that pets are likely to live a longer happier life if they are neutered. For bitches that means an ovariectomy or complete ovario-hysterectomy - commonly called a "spay" operation. Whilst this is recognised as routine surgery, it is, in fact, a major abdominal operation (just ask anyone you know who has had a similar procedure themselves!)

At Elands Veterinary Clinic we firmly believe in quality of life, and every pet deserves the best we can offer. We have pioneered minimally invasive techniques in veterinary surgery, using keyhole surgery techniques and laser surgery only found in the human field up to now. It is a major advance in reducing pain and speeding post operative recovery.

Indeed we are still one of only very few centres able to offer these services anywhere in the UK.

We are pleased to offer

Laparoscopic or "key-hole" spays

for bitches. Happy dog

In fact Elands Veterinary Clinic was the first centre in the UK to offer this procedure!

Principal Vet Philip Lhermette MRCVS now travels throughout the UK and abroad, teaching these techniques to other Vets, so hopefully they will become more generally available. Currently only a handful of UK Clinics are able to offer this option.

Less trauma - less pain - quicker recovery

Give us a call or ask at reception - your pet deserves it!

RosieRosie was a happy little dog - full of life and fun. That's why it was so alarming when she suddenly stopped eating and slept all day. The children tried to tempt her with tasty treats, but to no avail, she was just getting weaker. Her tail lost its wag and her eyes lost their sparkle. Fortunately her owners took her to her vets as soon as possible. The blood test results were ready in 15 minutes, and showed a liver problem. An ultrasound scan showed some abnormalities and Rosie would need surgery to take a biopsy of her liver. Fortunately her vets use the latest anaesthetics and are one of very few clinics world-wide who are fully equipped to carry out keyhole surgery through a tiny incision, so Rosie was up and about in no time. 24-hour nursing care and prompt treatment saved Rosie's life, but the quality of care made her experience less traumatic and her recovery much quicker.

We believe she deserves that.
