There are currently three full time veterinary surgeons employed
at Elands Veterinary Clinic, together with three veterinary associates with
referral specialities.
Philip Lhermette BSc (Hons) CBiol MIBiol BVet Med MRCVS is the
principal and founder of the practice. Married, with three children, Philip
comes from a farming background. After completing an honours degree in animal
physiology at the University of Nottingham in 1977, Philip went on to complete
his degree in veterinary medicine at the Royal Veterinary College, London, in
1982. After four years in mixed practice in Surrey Philip moved back home to
Kent, working as a locum for nine months whilst Elands was being built.
Philip has a particular interest in surgery - and in particular,
minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery using rigid and flexible endoscopes.
Having practised rigid endoscopy since 1995, Philip has extensive experience in
endoscopy and endosurgery and is always keen to pass on his knowledge to other
enthusiasts. Since 2001 he has pioneered laser surgery in veterinary medicine
in the UK, particularly in laser endoscopic techniques and endosurgery. He also
has an interest in ultrasonography and uses this medium extensively as a
complimentary technique prior to endoscopy.
Philip gives talks all over the UK teaching the principles and
practice of endoscopy to other veterinary surgeons and is currently special
lecturer in veterinary Endoscopy at the University of Nottingham School of
Veterinary Medicine and Science. Philip is also chairman of the Kent branch of
the British Small Animal Veterinary Association.
Georgie Yates BVetMed MRCVS - Georgie studied at the Royal
Veterinary College in London, taking a year out to gain an extra degree in
Human Genetics. Whilst at college she developed an interest in treating our
more exotic species, which lead to experience at zoos and aquaria. However
dealing with the special relationship between owners and their pets is hard to
beat, so on graduation she opted to work in practice enjoying every minute
since. She has maintained an interest in exotic species especially rabbits and
reptiles and will gladly see any species of pet alongside cats and dogs. Having
witnessed the very positive effects of veterinary acupuncture whilst still a
student, Georgie felt there were a number of her patients who could benefit
from this treatment. Therefore in 2007 Georgie took an advanced course run by
the Association of British Veterinary Acupuncturists.
At home she and her partner have recently taken on an abandoned
tortoise. In her spare time Georgie also loves dancing, attending CeRoc classes
regularly, as well as digging her allotment and travelling.
Stevica (Stefan) Pesic Dipl Vet MRCVS - joins us from Serbia,
having moved to the UK shortly after qualifying at Belgrade University in 2001.
This is his first UK post since he re-qualified here, passing the stringent UK
exams to became a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2005.
He's waiting to see what specialisation he might pursue but is enthusiastic
about all areas of small animal practice. He's the proud father of two
beautiful girls who take up most of his spare moments. The rest of the time
you'll find him plugged into his iPod, discovering new music.
