Becs Mather VN is head of
our nursing team and had worked in the practice for two years as a qualified
Veterinary Nurse prior to her appointment as head nurse in November 2005. She
has a very keen interest in animal behaviour and medical nursing, and also
helped set up our nursing clinics where she has had much success with her
"waist watchers" clinic, bringing a new lease of life to lots of overweight
pets. Becs is a keen traveller and has managed trips to both Australia and
Borneo in recent years. Whilst in Borneo she participated in an Orangutan
conservation project for 6 weeks.
Becs is always on hand to discuss preventative care for your
pets.
Emma Barty VN qualified as a veterinary
nurse in 2005 and has already made her mark at Elands. She has impressed
everyone with her calm approach and gentle humour and has brought her
enthusiasm and practical know-how to our nurse clinics, to the benefit of
clients and patients alike.
Gemma Wade trained as as an Animal
Nursing Assistant at Elands and having passed all her exams with flying colours
and getting her certificate, she is now studying hard for her first year
Veterinary Nursing exams. Prior to this she has worked as a kennel hand at a
local dog boarding kennels. Gemma really enjoys working at the clinic,
especially as every day is different and she gets to meet such a variety of new
animals. Gemma is also the proud owner of her own beautiful cats, Tilly and
Snowy!
Dee Thorn joins us as the newest
member of the nursing team, and is training for her National Certificate
Veterinary Care Assistant. Having started her veterinary nursing career some
time ago, Dee left to have her daughter, and has now resumed her training with
the aim of becoming a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse. As well as a lively
toddler, Dee has quite a menagerie at home - 2 cats (siamese and moggie) 2
african fat tailed gecko's, a bearded dragon and a rabbit!
